Design-focused generator for raster and editable SVG output, with per-model credit costs published and commercial rights granted only on paid plans.
Designers who need editable vector output rather than flat pixels: vector generation and the vector editor are available on every plan, and the docs publish the credit cost of each model and operation so a sprint of icon or illustration work can be costed in advance. Teams building generation into a product get a separate pay-as-you-go API with per-image prices from $0.007 and an explicit carve-out that API inputs and outputs are never used for model training and are not stored for that purpose. Paid subscribers also get the clearest ownership statement in this category: full ownership and commercial rights over what they generate, kept after the subscription ends.
Do not use the Free plan for anything you intend to sell or publish: Recraft's docs state that free-plan images are public and owned by Recraft, that users get only a limited, non-exclusive licence for personal purposes, and that commercial use is prohibited - and upgrading does not fix it, because images generated while on Free remain public and Recraft's property. Training opt-out is also unavailable on the Free plan, so free users cannot stop their images, prompts and chat content being used to improve the models. The vendor's own documentation is inconsistent on that point: the compliance page answers "Does Recraft use my data to train AI models?" with "No", while the data-use page says user content is used by default with an opt-out toggle, and the free plan's credit allowance is never given a number.
Pros
Cons
No. The ownership doc states free-plan images are public and owned by Recraft, with users granted only a limited, non-exclusive licence for personal purposes and commercial use prohibited. Upgrading later does not convert them: anything generated while subscribed to the Free plan remains public and Recraft's property. Paid plans grant full ownership and commercial rights, retained after the subscription ends.
The data-use page says yes by default, covering images you create or upload and text you enter in prompts or chat, with both free and paid accounts included and Teams excluded by default. Pro users can opt out with the "Help improve Recraft" toggle; free users cannot opt out. API inputs and outputs are never used for training and are not stored for it.
Nothing about the data its own models were trained on, and no indemnity to customers appears in the trust documentation. It does publish a related restriction in the other direction: assets generated with Recraft may not be used to train external AI systems, and the service may not be sublicensed or resold. Recraft retains ownership of the platform, software and underlying models.
In the app, a credit table is published per model: 1 credit for V4.1 Flash, 2 for V4.1, 10 for V4.1 Pro, 4 for V4.1 Vector and 12 for Pro Vector, with fixed costs like 1 for background removal. On the API you pay cash per image, from $0.007 for V4.1 Flash to $0.30 for V4.1 Pro vector, at $1 per 1,000 units.
